Lax regulations and loopholes have put guns into the hands of just about anyone who wants a gun. Few states require permits and even fewer require any form of training. Background checks are currently required for licensed dealers, however, if checks are not completed in 3 days, the dealer can go ahead with the sale of the firearm at their discretion. Sales at gun shows are not considered part of that, neither are private sales. Therefore, just about anyone can walk in and purchase a gun. Additionally, while minors cannot buy a gun, with parental consent, most states allow children to own a firearm. Firearms are just as deadly as, say, a car, yet easier to require and with less regulation and training required.
The current administration is not inclined to tighten gun control. It's up to us to make our voices heard and work together to fight for stricter gun control and ensure a safer future for the next generation.
